Practicryl PGA Rapid

Absorbable polyglic acid suture (fast acting)

Description

Practicryl PGA Rapid is a synthetic absorbable suture and polyfilament made from fast-acting polyglicolic acid (PGA).

PGA Rapid is broken down by hydrolysis and is completely absorbed by metabolism. Absorption begins with a loss of mass followed by a loss of tensile strength. It retains approximately 50% of its initial tensile strength on day 7 post-implantation and provides effective wound support for 7-10 days. It loses all tensile strength between 10 and 18 days. Absorption of PGA Rapid then occurs and is essentially complete by 42 days. The polyglicolic acid (PGA) coating of the suture allows for easier passage through the tissue and less tissue irritation.

Surgeons around the world use PGA Rapid sutures such as Practicryl Rapid in various types of surgery. It is recommended for superficial soft tissue sutures of the skin or mucosa. This type of suture is not suitable for operations on cardiovascular and neurological tissues, nor when short support is required or when the patient suffers from delayed healing.

Our Practicryl PGA Rapid is available for medical use in dozens. For more information, please contact us.
