Practimonoflorid PVDF

Non-absorbable PolyVinyliDene Fluoride (PVDF) suture

Description

Practimonoflorid is a non-absorbable polyvinyl difluoride (PVDF) polymer surgical suture sold by AIP Medical. It is a monofilament suture, which ensures that it passes smoothly through tissue without sawing or leaving trauma. Although it is non-absorbable, it is gradually encapsulated by the connective tissue. The mass of the sutures decreases by about 10% per year due to the breaking of chemical bonds (hydrolytic action).

This suture is available in blue or black color, which increases visibility during surgery. Practimonoflorid surgical sutures are used in soft tissue sutures and ligatures and for binding in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurosurgical applications.

Practimonoflorid is monofilament and infection resistant. This suture is ideally suited for use on infected or contaminated wounds to minimize eliminating sinus formation and suture rupture in the future. Because they do not stick to the tissue, monofloride sutures are very easy to remove.

Due to these properties Practimonoflorid is used in different segments of human medicine for skin closure operations, but also in general surgery, orthopedic surgery and plastic and gynecological surgery. The black monofloride sutures are a very good compromise for plastic and ophthalmic surgery due to their better visibility.
