Practisorb PGCL

Absorbable Polyglecaprone 25 (PGCL) suture

Description

AIP Medical’s Practisorb PGCL is a brand of monofilament absorbable suture consisting of polyglecaprone 25, a copolymer of 75% glycolide and 25% e-caprolactone.

Practisorb PGCL offers high tensile strength and minimal tissue reaction. Indeed, the fact that it is a monofilament makes it softer, which means that the tissue is not traumatized when the thread is passed through. In addition, the lack of capillary effect does not encourage bacterial growth.

Furthermore, Practisorb PGCL has a long and predictable resorption time of 90-120 days, which is half the time of polydioxanone acid (PDO) sutures. The hydrolytic action is involved and the tensile strength is 50% after 42 days.

This suture is suitable for various types of superficial soft tissue surgery that require long tissue support. Its use corresponds perfectly to the needs of general surgery, but also gastrointestinal surgery, skin suturing or even urology.

However, there is a contraindication to its use in cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgery and when the patient’s healing takes too long.

Our Practisorb PGCL is available in dozens for veterinary use. For more information, please contact us.
